ATA Local 42 has dedicated a $1000 scholarship in memory of Jennifer Wrzosek.

She was a local author who taught and inspired many over her 26 years of teaching in Grande Prairie. Mrs. Wrzosek was also on the board for two terms serving for 8 years with the district.  Mr. Good has many kind words to say about Mrs. Wrzosek as a teacher and member of the community.

This years recipient is Nicole Menard! Congratulations.

Jennifer Wrzosek.

"I had the great privilege of knowing Jennifer for over 30 years.
She was a friend, a teaching colleague, a great staff member. It was an honour for me to have been Jennifer’s principal at St Kateri and St Patrick Schools for many years.

During that time I observed what an outstanding classroom teacher she was. Her enthusiasm, careful lesson planning, curriculum knowledge, collegiality and professionalism were just a few of her outstanding teacher qualities. She enjoyed working cooperatively with colleagues and as her principal I always knew which group Jennifer was working with, as there was always much laughter involved.

Jennifer was a hard worker, full of energy and positivism who encouraged and loved all her students. She was always concerned for their well being and they in turn, loved her. One of her students once asked me: “Is tomorrow a day off school ?” I replied, “Yes, it is a PD day”. She replied, “Oh no! I wish I could just come and be in class with Mrs Wrzosek instead of staying home”. A lovely innocent statement from her young student that, for me, summed up Jennifer Wrzosek, the teacher."
